The current generation: an advanced kayak hull fitted with the Autonomous Rudderless Yaw Drive Architecture for Navigation. No rudder, no submerged prop — differential air propulsion handles steering and thrust. Rated to move 500 kg loads, satellite-connected, and now in live trials in Coimbatore, India, running real missions in real public waters.
The first build: a ground-up boat on an inflatable catamaran hull. The goal was simple — stay afloat, stay controllable. The advantage was where we did it: deployed straight into real-world conditions on a flowing river, up-current and all, instead of a test tank. Surviving failure conditions on day one shaped every design decision since.
Full engineering pass done in Waterloo, built with the facilities and support of TBDC and the Velocity incubator in Canada. This is the prototype where the platform first achieved autonomy — navigating on its own rather than being driven — turning a working boat into a working robot, and setting up everything ARYA-N now runs on.
